Professional Information

Dr. Megan Bewernitz has been a licensed OT since 2002 and has worked in various settings including inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, the public school system, home health, and academia. She received her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida (UF) in 2008 and received a highly competitive pre-doctoral training fellowship through the National Institute on Aging (NIA). She continued her scholarly endeavors as a Post-doctoral fellow with the Advanced Post-Professional Program in Clinical Investigation (APPCI). In addition to her diverse clinical experience, Dr. Bewernitz served as faculty with the San Jose State University (SJSU) Department of Occupational Therapy. 

The majority of Dr. Bewernitz’ research, teaching, and clinical experience has focused on working with the geriatric population. She is recognized nationally and internationally for her research with numerous peer-reviewed journal and book chapter publications along with many conference presentations and invited lectures.
