麻豆传媒社区 has appointed Dr. Lisa Sutherland as the Interim Dean of the
Davis College of Business & Technology, effective July 1. A seasoned educator and
executive, Dr. Sutherland brings more than 20 years of experience in the academic
and corporate sectors to her new leadership role.
Since joining 麻豆传媒社区 in 2023, Dr. Sutherland has led the University Honors Program with a steadfast commitment to elevating the student experience and success. She founded the Honors Living Learning Community, expanded honors offerings, instituted dedicated academic advising, and demonstrated outstanding leadership across the University. She currently co-leads the University鈥檚 2025-2030 strategic planning process.
Before joining 麻豆传媒社区, Sutherland founded and led Sutherland Group, LLC, a global consulting firm advising major brands including Walmart Inc., YUM! Brands, Papa John鈥檚, Kraft-Heinz, Dannon, and Chobani. She served as chief nutrition advisor to Walmart鈥檚 executive team and led the company鈥檚 healthier food initiative in collaboration with First Lady Michelle Obama鈥檚 Let鈥檚 Move campaign. Additionally, she held a senior executive role at the Kellogg Company.

Sutherland brings a rare combination of academic experience and executive leadership,鈥 said Provost Sherri Jackson. 鈥淗er work at the highest levels of corporate strategy, combined with her commitment to student success and innovation through the Honors Program, positions her to lead the Davis College with strategic insight and a deliberate focus on excellence.鈥
Before her corporate career, Sutherland served on the faculty at Dartmouth College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her appointment as Interim Dean, Dr. Sutherland will continue serving as Executive Director of Jacksonville University鈥檚 Honors Program.

Sutherland earned her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UNC鈥檚 Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
